Twin Islands Process
Inspiration
Research was conducted by reading on the history of Sitka, Alaska and many of the popular activities that are available to those visiting Downtown Sitka. From there, two mood boards were created from style research.
Brainstorming.
Basic sketches were created from the research of Sitka and the style research. Each sketch highlighted various directions and options for the poster to go, and the client was able to choose which direction they preferred to go.
Ideation.
The ideation stage consisted of creating a few tighter sketches to incorporate more details of the sketches before moving onto the digital phase. Additionally, a photo collage was created to use as a reference for creating the illustration.
Solution.
Using the composition and tone from the tight sketches, the final poster was created. The poster features a heavy illustration style, along with a few of elements from the original photos, and is meant to appear as a painting.
