Metrolink Process

Inspiration

Visual research, including personal experiences and structured interviews with train travelers, informed the identification of key areas such as the ticket wallet, ticket purchase, and train updates.

Brainstorming.

Using the information gathered during the research portion of the project, sketches of the layout of the key features were made using a traditional pencil and paper. Digital wireframes were also created in order to visualize the layout of the new app.

Ideation.

The ideation stage consisted of creating the low-fidelity prototype. The ideation stage also incorporated design elements from the branding of Metrolink. It was at this stage user testing was conducted to test the usability of the app.

Solution.

From there, a high-fidelity prototype was developed, complete with icons, navigation, and branding. User testing was conducted on this app, and every tester reported seeing an increased ability to navigate through the app due to a cleaner UI!
